Today is the “open registration” for Comic-Con which takes place in San Diego in the summer.
I have gone through the registration process for the past three years. It was quite exciting the first year I tried. You basically need to sign up for a membership a few week prior to the actual open registration date. Then a week prior to the registration you get a link that allows you to log into their website prior between 8am and 9am to be entered into a lottery for the opportunity to buy a tickets. It is not a simple process, we nerds and geeks are definitely dedicated.
So you wait with baited breath… and then the site starts displaying messages about certain days being sold out. Surely thousands of geeks and nerds have better things to do on a Saturday morning than watch a website for the mere chance to buy a Comic-Con ticket? Maybe not.
I did not get a ticket that year.
Last year, my excitement was more muted. I still had hope that I would get a ticket. So I registered and waited and was eventually disappointed.
I am trying again this year, however this time I decided to do something other than just sit and wait, I decided to try setting up a Goodreads Giveaway. It was surprisingly easy, they even provided some HTML that I could add to this site to link to the giveaway.
I set it to run from February 27 until March 6. A added a giveaway widget to this site, see the left side of the screen (I am really starting to get the hang of this website stuff, don’t you think?). Enter to win if you are interested. I will send a signed version of Ancient Evil to the winners. Personally I love to get signed copies of books, preferably by the Author.
While waiting I also decided to write this blog post, to distract myself from my futile attempt to obtain Comic-Con tickets.
I just checked my other browser window. I can buy tickets! Yea!
Hmmm… I wonder if I really want to go…
Yeah, I’ll go, I did not really think I would get tickets. It should be fun and I can blog about it.
I bought tickets for Saturday night July 23, see you there, if you can get tickets.
Goodluck in the Giveaway, if you enter.
